Our Commitment to Small Business.
Verizon has a documented history of developing and growing small businesses, and we are proud to work with diverse suppliers. Across Verizon, we spent, directly and indirectly, $4.85 billion in goods and services from diverse suppliers in 2016. We are a proud charter member of the Billion Dollar Roundtable, a coalition of companies that spends more than $1 billion each year with diverse suppliers.
Why We Do It
Working with small businesses drives operational efficiencies for our customers. In the federal space, we see great value from small business with competencies that complement and enhance Verizon’s service offerings.
This is beneficial to all parties, but these relationships are especially important to the community, as they support job creation and growth in local economies.
We work with small businesses throughout the year, and are continually seeking new companies to enhance our small business ecosystem and help us provide successful customer engagements.
How We Deliver
Verizon is poised to deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions and seamless user experiences to our Federal customers. We have selected companies that complement our experience, our capabilities and our solutions to be a part of our subcontractor ecosystem.
What We Look For
We focus on small businesses that possess extensive agency experience and a track record of delivering competitive solutions. We look for companies that have unique capabilities and experience in managed services, security and advanced communications.
Verizon was named the U.S. Department of Treasury’s 2016 Large Business Contractor of the Year. In addition to receiving an exceptional rating on our WITS 3 contract, our primary contract vehicle at Treasury, we were recognized for driving 53 percent of WITS 3 subcontracting opportunities to small and disadvantaged businesses.
Verizon welcomes its newest protégé to the Federal team.
Unassailable Solutions joins the Verizon Federal team as its newest protégé in the Department of Homeland Security Mentor Protégé Program. Unassailable Solutions, an audio visual design and engineering firm with a focus on complex command and control mission critical environments within the government market, delivers network and software defined solutions that integrate with other software and hardware-based mission support platforms, within an enterprise or standalone network.
The protégé program is designed by DHS to encompass 36 months of mentoring and management by the prime contractor, wherein the small business receives guidance on areas of focus, such as business development, contract development and business case management. The goal of the program is to grow and diversify the performance of the Department of Homeland Security through its contracts. Participating in the program gives Verizon the opportunity to share its experience with business owners, attend small industry business events, work with the DHS Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, and interact with the small business specialists at each sub-agency level to advance the goal of the agency through both large and small business contracting. This DHS program will be the third iteration for Verizon in the last five years and will serve as the first formal protégé program for Unassailable.

I just wanted to drop a note to say THANK YOU for hosting the Small Business Summit Strategy Session today. This was the most valuable meeting that we have ever attended and showed a true commitment by Verizon to its small business partners.
I want to drop you all a quick on the Federal Small Business Summit today, and say thank you. You did and excellent job pulling it all together. The Matching Making was well attended by Verizon’s Sales teams. The event as a whole, as very professionally done. I’m excited to see Verizon’s dedication to small business. Good stuff.
I just wanted to drop you guys a quick note to thank you for putting on the fantastic event earlier this week. I learned a ton and am still trying to digest all of the information.
We are very excited about EIS, and how we can help Verizon’s success here. It was great to meet you at the Summit, and I learned a lot. It was very valuable time spent.
Thank you so very much for extending to us the invitation to join a select group of small businesses for the Federal Small Business Summit and Expo, last Tuesday at your facility in Ashburn VA. In addition to learning a great deal about Verizon, we left there convinced that Verizon not only talks-the-talk about support of small business, but walks-the-walk. Our interaction with Verizon’s decision-maker and other staff members during the afternoon Expo was in a word magical, so many engaging professionals.
